Daksina Kosala has a long and interesting numismatic history commencing from Punch-marked coins. Rulers of Nala and Sarabhapuriya, most probably issued the commemorative medals which are treated as coins by few scholars. Subsequently, after the lapse of many centuries, Kalachuris again commenced the local coinage of Chhattisgarh. Scholars have been paid their interest to work on Kalachuri coins but lack of proper documentations, excavations and mismanagement of authorities, this interesting part of history has become the subject of ignorance. However, few early scholars have contributed for numismatic of Chhattisgarh but it is not enough and satisfactory work for creating a vivid scenario. Arranging all coins in chronological order to reconstruct a continuous history of Kalachuris in this region from 9th CE- 13th CE and try to do detail analysis on neglected topics viz. Metallurgy, minting techniques and mints, metrology, art and iconography is the main purport behind this research.
