The top 5 perceived barriers were: inadequate facilities for implementation, lack of time for nurses to read research, feeling of nurses that she/he has enough authority to change patient care procedures, insufficient time on the job to implement new ideas and research reports/articles are not published fast enough. Top perceived barriers should be decreased through more discussion among stakeholders to promote more research activities and research-based practice. Positive attitude towards research can influence other nurses in establishing an active nursing research culture and promote evidence-based practice in the workplace.
