The present study has been conducted in the shallow continental shelf waters situated in the northern part of Bay of Bengal (Nbob). Apart from the conventional dissolved nutrients [dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), dissolved inorganic phosphate (DIP) and reactive silicate (DSi)] and CDOM absorbance, other physico-chemical parameters like salinity, pH, water temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), total suspended matter (TSM), chlorophyll-a (chl-a) are also measured for the present study. Analyzing the outcomes of this book, it could be concluded on the whole that the present study area is far away from experiencing eutrophication levels. This estuary to offshore transition zone was limited protein in the post-monsoon season, and for the rest of the year it was light limited. From the perspective of CDOM, it was mainly concluded that Hugh River is the main source of CDOM for the northern part of Bay of Bengal. Its absorbance value decreased from the inshore station towards the offshore. Out of the physicochemical parameters studied, salinity was found to exhibit a strong relationship with CDOM variability.
