Healthy and fertile soils are the foundation of sustainable agriculture. Farm waste compost, green manure, bio-fertilizers are some of the organic fertilizer options of which compost hold the top position. Good compost preparation and method of application has been the issues in organic farming. Various methods of compost application have been in practice recently, however the nutrient availability from the different methods of application has not been analyzed. This study aims for the better nutrient management for organic farming system. The study showed that split application of nutrients when the plant require most can be beneficial in terms of yield and may also reduce the wastes of due to leaching. The compost characteristics such as low moisture percentage and high N concentration may prove to be user friendly organic fertilizer in comparison to low N concentrated compost extract.
