The overall viability of the livestock farm depends largely on reproductive efficiency, of the herd that is often influenced by nutrition, environmental conditions and diseases. A autora Yasothai Ramalingam nasceu em 14.06.1975. Obteve a licenciatura (2000), o mestrado (2002) e o doutoramento (2013) na Universidade de Ciências Veterinárias e Animais de Tamilnadu, Chennai. Actualmente, trabalha como Professora Assistente no Centro de Formação e Investigação da Universidade de Veterinária, TANUVAS, Erode, Tamilnadu, Índia. Escreveu muitos artigos de investigação e livros.
