Mael, a young boy blessed by the Orishas with unesiphiwo (the gift) mistakenly thinks he's responsible for his mothers' death runs into a retired magus Simon who recognizes the dangers of an untrained magic user running amok and tries to take him in, and the presumed fallen magus Motu who started the corruption at the behest of an unscrupulous god will stop at nothing if it means his love will be returned to him whole. Three travellers from another dimension have unwittingly placed themselves in the middle of all this strife. Rod Van Blake was born in Rochester, NY, and spent most of his childhood in Chicago after living in Philadelphia, and Arlington, VA. After playing a few years of College basketball at a small university in Minnesota he enlisted in the Marine Corp. Several years later, after being honorably discharged from the Marine Corp, he went on to finish his degree earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing. He now lives in Suffolk, VA and is working on the next Ancient Illumination novel while gathering ideas for his first Fantasy novel, tentatively titled Blood, Stone, Steel and Fire. The next Ancient Illumination Novel should be available in 2017.
