The school is operated by Jefferson County Board of Education. It was built in 2000 and replaced the former Oak Grove School that was destroyed by an F5 tornado at nine o' clock in the evening on Lock 17 Road. The next day, ABC 33/40's meteorologist James Spann spoke from a helicopter about Jefferson County's tornado warning and damage. This high school's grades are from 6 through 12. Its principal is Alan Pruden. Its vice principal is Rosemary Johnson. Its 1983 Football Team won the state 2A Championship.
