Obersteckholz is a municipality in the district of Aarwangen in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Obersteckholz has an area of 3.9 square kilometers (1.5 sq mi). Of this area, 66.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 27.4% is forested. The rest of the land, (6.1%) is settled. Obersteckholz has a population (as of 2007) of 385, of which 0.8% are foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -9.6%. Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (98.5%), with English being second most common ( 0.5%) and Czech being third ( 0.3%). In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 62.3% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the CSP (9.4%), the FDP (7.3%) and the SPS (6.6%).
