Obesity is associated with Metabolic Syndrome as indicated by the presence of hypertension, dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia with insulin resistance (type-2 diabetes) and low grade inflammation. These hemodynamic, metabolic and biochemical changes may predispose to structural, histopathologic and functional alteration in the kidney. Also, the obesity associated disorders even the nephropathologic manifestation can be reversed or ameliorated with reduction in body fat and body weight induced by dietary energy restriction.
