Karla Suárez (La Habana, 1969) ha publicado las novelas El hijo del héroe, Habana año cero, La viajera y Silencios, que conforman la serie Sinfonía Habanera. También ha escrito libros de cuentos y de crónicas de viaje. Entre otros reconocimientos obtuvo el Premio Carbet del Caribe, el English PEN Translates Award, el Premio Lengua de Trapo, el Premio Iberoamericano de Cuento Julio Cortázar y en 2007 formó parte de la lista de jóvenes autores de Bogotá 39. Sus cuentos y novelas han sido traducidos a una docena de idiomas. Actualmente reside en Lisboa, donde coordina el Club de Lectura del Instituto Cervantes y es profesora de la Escuela de Escritores de Madrid. Karla Suárez (Havana, 1969). She has published the novels El hijo del héroe (The Hero's Son), Habana año cero (Havana Year Zero), La viajera (The Traveler), and Silencios (Silences), which make up the series Sinfonía Habanera (Habanera Symphony). She has also written short story collections and travel chronicles. Among other recognitions, she has received the Carbet Prize of the Caribbean, the English PEN Translates Award, the Lengua de Trapo Prize, the Julio Cortázar Ibero-American Short Story Prize, and in 2007, she was part of the Bogotá 39 list of young authors. Her short stories and novels have been translated into a dozen languages. She currently resides in Lisbon, where she coordinates the Reading Club at the Instituto Cervantes and is a professor at the Escuela de Escritores in Madrid.
