The importance of occupational health is often overlooked and people tend to equate occupational illness with industrialization and huge factories in urban areas. This narrow view hampered the development of occupational health in developing countries. The human, social and economic costs of occupational accidents, injuries and diseases and major industrial disasters have long been causing concern at all levels from the individual workplace to the national and international.The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of health hazards on workers and how organizations in the oil and gas sector are addressing industry needs and challenges relative to HS&E. Furthermore, it aims to gauge if companies are able to realize optimum H&S standards together with effective business operations and practices.
