been comparatively little research carried out with
regard to this topic particularly in (Potgieter,
1996:1; Van Rooyen, 2000:1). Various literature
sources indicate and highlight the vast impacts of
shift work internationally, yet literature on the
subject as seen in South Africa is limited (Van

describing the experiences of shift workers and
provides guidelines for the promotion of health and
