A field survey and experiment trail were conducted during November,2011 A.D for studying the occurrences of fruit fly in cucumber and management practice in major pocket areas of Pachkhal, Kavre district, Nepal. The survey revealed that among the major insects pest of cucurber, fruit fly is considered to be a major challenging pest causing damage more than 60% according to the respondents. Respondents were largely unaware about the effective management practices and were practicing direct insecticides spray methods in order to control fruit fly. Majority of them, lacked the knowledge about the alternate Eco-friendly methods of management of fruitflies in general and baiting techniques in particular. On the other hand, field trails using different traps i.e cue lure with malathion, molasses with malathion and mango juice with malathion against fruit flies showed that cue lure treatment was more effective management with higher fruit yield.
