This book tries to explain the occurrence of angular leaf spot (ALS) disease and its variability in western Kenya. The disease has been reported to cause bean yield losses as high as 80%. Control of this disease has been a challenge due to limited land as a result of pressure exerted by fast increasing human population. This limits the use of cultural practices such as crop rotation. Also, the problem is compounded by wide pathogenic variability occurring in this pathogen. Therefore, mapping out of ALS hotspot areas in the region will help in identification of areas for clean seed production. Further, identification of the ALS races available in the region will assist the breeders in the development of durable resistant varieties.
