Ocean Beach, a neighborhood of San Diego, California, is known throughout the city, county, and beyond as a unique and quirky place with the feel of a small town, despite being a stone's throw from the center of a major metropolis. Autorenporträt
The Ocean Beach Historical Society was founded in 1994 by local writer-publisher Carol Bowers, who recruited Beach Town author Ruth Held and a handful of others to serve on the first board of directors. The society collects and preserves items related to the rich history of Ocean Beach and educates residents through monthly programs, an interactive web site, and special events such as an annual narrated walk through historic central Ocean Beach. Its most significant accomplishment to date has been the establishment of the Ocean Beach Cottage Emerging Historical District, which seeks to preserve the area's distinctive early architecture.
