In 2024, Earth is consumed by a great War of Ocean Liberation. Huge blue whales, sharks, dolphins, and even monstrous creatures thought to be extinct-all strike with ferocity and surprising strength. The marine armada is led by hybrid, transformed humans who call themselves Sea Warriors, ocean-rights zealots who can swim to the deepest regions of the sea and live off the bounty of the waters. Their commander, Kimo Pohaku, announces his startling intention: the complete liberation of the seas from human control. Finally, the ocean is fighting back, but it might be too late. . . . Autorenporträt
Brian Herbert, the son of legendary science fiction author Frank Herbert, has written the definitive biography of him, Dreamer of Dune, which was a finalist for the Hugo Award. The book reveals the fascinating origins of Dune, and tells the compelling story of Brian's journey to understand the most complex father imaginable, a man he didn't always get along with. It is also the love story of Frank and Beverly Herbert, who met as young writers in a creative writing class at the University of Washington. After her diagnosis with a terminal illness when she was only 47, Frank Herbert took loving and heroic measures to save her life-and at that time, when Brian was in his twenties, he and his father became the best of friends. A new audio edition of Dreamer of Dune is coming out in October, 2020, narrated by the well-known audio personality, Scott Brick. A very busy man, Brian wears several hats. In addition to being the author of more than 45 books, he co-manages the legacy of Frank Herbert and is an executive producer of the new motion picture "Dune" and the forthcoming TV series "Dune: The Sisterhood." He observed the filming of "Dune" in Budapest, has provided script advice to the studio, has been closely involved in publicity for the film, and is providing technical advice on new Dune games. Brian has written many highly imaginative science fiction and fantasy novels, including the epic, galaxy-spanning Timeweb trilogy, the ecological fantasy Ocean (with his wife, Jan), The Little Green Book of Chairman Rahma, The Unborn, and The Assassination of Billy Jeeling. His earlier acclaimed novels include The Stolen Gospels, Sudanna Sudanna, and Sidney's Comet, as well as Man of Two Worlds (written with his father). Brian has collaborated on many international bestselling novels in the Dune series with Kevin J. Anderson, and they also wrote the Hellhole trilogy together. Their newest novel, Dune: The Duke of Caladan, is being published in October, 2020. They are also collaborating on a new graphic novel adaptation of Dune and a comic book adaptation of their breakthrough 1999 novel Dune: House Atreides. Brian and his wife of more than 50 years, Jan, have traveled the world, living in exotic lands and learning about many cultures and languages. The huge amount of material assembled on those long, fascinating trips finds its way into Brian's writings and Jan's photography and artwork.
