The book was born in 1993; it took sixteen hours to write Ocean's Anger and two years to rewrite. The poetry came from true experiences; there are eight poems throughout the manuscript. The poems set the pace for the book. She chose this style because it seems to keep the book alive. Ocean's Anger is a nonfiction manuscript. It is a metaphor between the ocean's natural anger and women's natural anger set free. The book takes place on the beaches of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where two women are vacationing. Candy is struggling with the Atlantic Ocean's power and the hold it seems to have over her. It isn't until she is standing in the breath of the ocean's mouth that she feels her (the ocean) swallowing her up. Suddenly the memories of her father's, yelling and his hands knocking her to the floor are released. The memories surface as Candy tries to get her body back to the surface of the ocean's mouth. Candy is not alone; she knows that her friend Lisa will be waiting for her on the beach. But could she overpower the angered waters? She knew she could never over power her father's anger. When Hurricane Hugo hits South Carolina, Candy seems to feel the anger again and it isn't until her trip to South Padre Islands she decides that she cannot stand still like the shells on the island, or she too will start to decay. Autorenporträt
She has won several contests with her poetry and short stories. Ocean's Anger is her first finished manuscript. She belonged to the Missouri Writer's Guild for several years and she was the President for the Jefferson County Writer's Guild and a member for several years also. She loves to write about her feelings and the true nature of the world around her. When her thoughts surface it is hard to hold back what seems to be a natural gift to her, writing. Sometimes it is hard for her to see the writer in herself, because the words seem to be a gift from God. Her encouragement to write started with one English instructor at Jefferson College recognizing she had a gift and sense then the encouragement of God, friends and family have been her courage to move on to finish her education and to write. She has finished her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and she will soon finish her Master's Degree in Special Education. She uses her gift as a writer in her classroom to teach children about their self and the world around them. She has two sons and two grandchildren and all are a breath of life to her writing.
