Oetz is a municipality in the Imst district of Austria and is located 11,70 km southeast of Imst at the lower course of the Ötztaler Ache. The village has several parts and is a popular area for rafting and tourism. Settlement of the area around Oetz already begann 2000 years ago but the village was mentioned for the first time as Ez in 1266. It has 2238 inhabitants. The Ötztaler Ache is a right tributary of the Inn River in the Imst (district) and flows through the Ötztal valley with a length of appr. 35 km. It merges with the Inn River 8 km east of Imst. The river is one of the biggest tributaries with plenty of water. The dangerous water of the river devastated the valley several times but nevertheless rafting fans love the Whitewater.
