Poetry. Michael Daley's OF A FEATHER passes Thoreau's moral test. To have written so well of what he has so clearly seen--birds, insects, landscapes--requires a receptivity to what is before him, everyday, animate or inanimate, large or small. Receptivity grounded in patience and love. OF A FEATHER has an off-hand, unhurried and leisurely tone that feels Chinese, even Taoist.
