Francisco Brines (born 1932) is probably the most famous living poet in the Spanish-speaking world. Author of several collections of poetry and critical essays, he has for many years come to be seen as a representative of a whole school of Spanish poets, the so-called Generation of the 1950s. His poetry has been recognised with numerous awards, including the Federico García Lorca Prize, the Reina Sofía Prize for Ibero-American Poetry, and the Cervantes Prize for Literature. In 2001 he was elected a member of the Royal Spanish Academy. He lives in Oliva near Valencia. Francisco Brines (nacido en 1932) es probablemente el más famoso poeta viviente en el mundo de habla hispana. Autor de varias colecciones de poesía y ensayos, ha llegado a ser considerado un representante de toda una escuela española de poetas, la llamada Generación del 50. Su poesía ha sido galardonada con numerosos premios, el García Lorca, el Reina Sofía de Poesía Iberoamericana, y el Cervantes. En 2001 fue nombrado miembro de la Real Academia Española. Vive actualmente en Oliva, cerca de Valencia.
