This paper presents the results of a field study on the state of criminological practice in penitentiary centers. It has been carried out by means of interviews to professional-practitioners who work directly in the centers and to expert-theorists who have contributed with the academic content on clinical criminology.theoretical experts who have contributed with the academic content on clinical criminology. This project includes the perspectives of four different penitentiary centers and academics such as: Eric Chargoy, Rodriguez Manzanera and Wael Hikal among others. Such perceptions are added to a theoretical review on dangerousness, violence risk assessment and penitentiary treatment.The study was conducted in Penitentiary Centers in the state of Puebla, Mexico, during the years 2013-2015.The purpose of this work has been to show a historical moment of the penitentiary practice from its practical part, but also from its theoretical elements, so that through the actuality of the academic dialogues a symbiosis was achieved that will show usa present of the criminological practice, but also a future about it.
