Do you fear old age? After retiring from a ministry career of over twenty years, 88-year old author, Ione Grover, was disturbed at how western society marginalized and dismissed its elders. This viewpoint prompted a new life calling of searching and studying aging. Through her personal reflections, along with that of other elders and spiritual teachers, Ione challenges society's dismissal of elderhood. In Old, Ione delves into the inner wisdom, courage, and tenderness of aging, providing an insightful narrative for those on the threshold of their older years and their caregivers. She writes with candour and passion from her own aging experience. "You don't have to fear old age," she states, "in spite of the difficulties, it is a beautiful time of life, a time for the soul to flourish." Each stand-alone chapter closes with questions that invite the reader to reflect on his or her own aging journey. Ione draws from a rich reservoir of spiritual writings from teachers, mystics and poets, as well as a sprinkling of her own poetry from over the years. Wherever you or your loved ones are on life's journey, Old invites you to see the aging process as a unique adventure, with all its unknowns, its struggles, its possibilities, and its delights.
