This book deals with the study and development of a combined on-board motor/charger system of a low-cost electric vehicle based on the delta-structured inverter and the double stator-wound permanent magnet synchronous machine (MSAP-DS). This reduction is achieved by using a reduced structure inverter with three arms. Each arm has a single controllable semiconductor, which reduces the cost of the conventional inverter to half. Also, this study is based on the use of the MSAP-DS. Indeed, this machine allows the possibility of reconfiguring its stator windings to an isolated secondary transformer connected to the distribution network during the recharging phase. With the same delta inverter-MSAP-DS association, it will be possible to have a motor operation for the traction phase and a generator operation connected to the grid with galvanic isolation for the recharge phase. This allows the development of the combined motor/charger system integrated on-board the electric vehicle without any additional cost.
