When someone leaves home for work, it is expected that at the end of the day the person will be back home. Receiving a message that ones loved one is no longer coming home, as they have lost their life in the line of duty is devastating. The book explores the challenges faced by spouses and dependants of police officers killed in the line of duty in the Gauteng Province, South Africa. It seeks to recommend solutions and programmes that can be provided by the employer through its employee assistance services. It further recommends the need for establishment of communities amongst those affected to share experiences and support one another.
