Autorenporträt
As one who identifies with non-fiction political literature, the author departs from regular essayists by his abrasive, confrontational and sarcastic style which makes this work a fusion of fiction and fact (faction). Using both the instinct of a housefly wont to settle on the wounds of human frailty and the impulse of a gadfly pricking the conscience of human endeavor, the author brings into our contemporary corpus of essays a fresh insight as seen in his non-partisan critical faculty, his eagle-eye vigilance and his rhetorical and epistolary stream of consciousness. As one who identifies with pedagogic and didactic literature, the author transcends the boundaries of a passive chronicler of events to assert himself as a votary of truth and a drum major for genuine democratic entitlement in Cameroon. Indeed it is not the game of politics that is inherently bad; it is the politician who is pathologically confused hence the author's challenge of the Europocentric pretensions of a one-size-fits-all democratic model and his consent to the "school of thought that favors benevolent and patriotic dictatorship". Mr. Peter Eta, Sr., is arguably Cameroon's most important essayist. Born in Buea in the South West Province of the Federal Republic of Cameroon, he was educated at the popular Government Practicing School Kumba Town, the prestigious Bilingual Grammar School Molyko-Buea, The University of Yaoundé, Cameroon; L'Université de Franche-Compté in Besançon - France and the University of Calabar in Nigeria. His fearless, incisive and brutally honest political commentary is food for thought for a country adrift of its moral moorings. Mr. Eta holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration.
