This book is submitted in partial fulfillment for the degree of an MSc at both the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria and the Czech University of Life Sciences (CULS), Prague, Czech Republic. The Master of Natural Resources and Ecological Engineering (NARMEE) is an International Joint Master Programme which is based on collaboration between University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU) Vienna, Lincoln University (LU) Canterbury, New Zealand and Czech University of Life Sciences (CULS) Prague, Czech Republic. In order to fulfill the requirements at both the BOKU and CULS, it was mandatory that after the completion of a study semester in Prague, Czech Republic, this work should be jointly supervised by qualified lecturing staff members of institutes and departments on which this book is related. In this case, the supervisors of this work are experts and lecturing staff members specialized in Hydraulics and Rural Water Management, Sanitary Engineering and Water Pollution Control and Land-Use and Improvement all of which focuses on water supply, water resources management and environmental sciences.
