Vojt¿ch Hladký's research deals with the study of the history of philosophy, with a focus on two main areas. Firstly, ancient philosophy, in particular the Presocratic studies: apart from his work on the Derveni papyrus, Hladký has published articles on Empedocles and Heraclitus. Secondly, Renaissance studies, where Hladký focuses on Renaissance Platonism and its relation to alternative religious currents and newly forming sciences, especially astronomy. His revised doctoral thesis was published as The Philosophy of Gemistos Plethon: Platonism in Late Byzantium, between Hellenism and Orthodoxy (2014), and he has also published articles on Cusanus and on Francesco Patrizi.
