In 2014 the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) requested comments on proposed changes to an obscure document called the Site Selection GAAMP. By the deadline two weeks later MDARD had received nearly 700 responses, with hundreds more to follow after the deadline passed. This is a book of excerpts from 121 of those public comments, which tell the story of why farm and food is so important to so many people in Michigan, in urban and rural areas alike.
