Several fundamental legislations mention or guarantee a right to housing. It is mentioned in constitutional texts, or texts with constitutional value, in Spain, Finland, Portugal, Greece, Switzerland, among others. It is also included in several international human rights texts and in several regional instruments, including the European Social Charter and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It is affirmed in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Article 11: "The States Parties to the present Covenant recognize the right of everyone to an adequate standard of living for himself and his family, including adequate food, clothing and housing, and to the continuous improvement of living conditions.
