Autorenporträt
Jürgen Wintermeier, born in 1947 in Wuppertal, Germany, was a college teacher in Berlin at the time of his journey through the United States of America with his friend Gabriel, a trip he describes in this book in the form of a personal diary. Jürgen spent most of his life as a volunteer and later development expert in many countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, where he worked as a Country Director, Program Manager and Development Advisor for humanitarian affairs in the context of forced displacement. Since 2003, Jürgen lives with his Filipina wife Jojo , who he met and married in Uganda, in Switzerland, in the village of Coppet near Geneva. They have two daughters, Kristina, and Nikole, who were both born in Kenia. This book goes back to a manuscript, written on an old typewriter in the seventies, following a two-months trip across the USA. The first version in German was published in 2018 by Books on Demand (www.bod.ch) and has been translated and edited in 2023.
