Autorenporträt
Mady Colin-Flohr was born in Indonesia. Her family returned to their native Netherlands after Indonesia gained its independence. The family moved again in 1957 and immigrated to the United States when Mady was ten. Mady and her sisters were raised on the East Coast, and eventually, the Colins moved to California in the late sixties, where Mady met her husband, Tom Flohr. After their wedding, the intrepid couple were stationed in upstate New York, where their children were born. Mady worked as a graphic artist at the state university during their residency. Eventually, the Flohr family relocated and raised their children in Alabama.Mady loves painting and writing. She found her calling as a teacher and put her creative energies into teaching her students. She left teaching in 2002 to care for her parents. She is a grandmother, an aunt, and a great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, who are very dear to her and sparked her to begin a new career at seventy-five.Mady is not only the author but also the illustrator of her books. Opa and the Tiger Trap is her second children's book. Mady believes that one is never too old to start something brand-new.
