The complexity of this malocclusion is attributed to a combination of skeletal, dentoalveolar, functional and habit related factors with remarkable difficulties of treatment and the instability of the correction, depending on its severity, etiology, and the stage of treatment onset. Hence, a proper diagnosis, treatment and mechanics is necessary to achieve a functionally normal, esthetically good and stable occlusion.
