Why was the world on the brink of World War III twice after the Missile Crisis? What caused the sinking of the USS Scorpion, the greatest mystery of the Cold War? Is it true that several crew members of the Kursk survived for days while the Russian government slowed rescue efforts? During the Cold War, beneath the surface of the oceans, a silent battle raged, full of enigmas and impossible missions. Examples of this are the secret intervention that the divers of the USS Halibut carried out in a Soviet base, or the CIA's covert operation to rescue a Soviet strategic submarine sunk at a depth of 4000 meters, all of this before the eyes of the world, without being discovered. It also highlights the recovery, by the US Navy, of a thermonuclear bomb lost in the waters of Almeria, using pioneering mini-submersibles and with the collaboration of a fisherman. The author, a veteran of the submarine flotilla and a professional diver, has researched large volumes of information, some of it declassified and some of it confidential, to prepare these pages. Without indulging in speculation, he offers us a fascinating journey into the depths of the Cold War, where reality surpasses fiction. Immerse yourself in this tribute to the submariners who served and those who still remain in "Eternal Patrol".
