This atlas provides sequential pictures for most existing reconstructive urology procedures. Though the use of technology is described, the book has been constructed in such a way that urologists from all countries will be able to pickup the technical tips to perform the laparoscopic procedures using simplified devices.Arthur D. Smith This new Operative Atlas of Laparoscopic Reconstructive Urology is the ideal reference book for residents and fellows as it has step-by-step pictures and only the essential prose. It is conveniently divided into eight clinical sections, with a ninth section o- lining training exercises. The major part of the book is illustrated with magnificent photographs and diagrams depicting every step of a particular procedure. Section I is devoted to instrumentation, access, and exit from the abdomen. The instruments are clearly shown and have been photographed from both outside and inside the abdomen. Sections II to IV demonstrate accepted laparoscopic techniques that are bec- ing the new gold standard in urology. Outcome analyses show that with laparoscopy one can achieve the same oncologic success as with open surgery but will less morbidity. Although there are 21 contributors to this textbook, Dr. Ramalingam has ensured that there is minimal repetition and a uniformity of style.

He is an eminent urologist who has always been interested in education and training in laparoscopic urology through his various presentations and publications. He has published articles in the Journal of Endourology, International Paediatric Endosurgery Group. His main areas of interest are Endo-Urology, Laparoscopic Urology, Pediatric Urology, and Renal Transplantation (550 Renal Transplants to date). Dr Vipul Patel serves at the Medical Director at the Global Robotics Institute, 410 Celebration Place, Suite 200, Celebration, FL 34747, USA. He has personally performed the most robotic prostatectomies in the world, and is one of only two surgeons to have performed 2,000 robotic procedures. He has utilized his skill and knowledge in this field to train and educate surgeons world wide. He is editor in chief of the Journal of Robotic Surgery and of the first robotic urology textbook, both published with Springer. Prior to joining Florida Hospital, Dr. Patel practiced at the Ohio State University where he served as the Director of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery. The contributing authors will include Professor David Mois Albala, Professor Gopal Badlani, Professor Jens Rassweiler, and Dr Chandra Shekhar Biyani, who have all published extensively.

Rezensionen
From the reviews:
"The authors present a vast array of urologic surgical procedures that can be performed laparoscopically in skilled hands and clearly demonstrate the increasing indications for minimally invasive surgery with urologic patients. ... Urology residents, fellows, and surgeons interested in minimally invasive surgery will find this atlas to be invaluable resource ... . All clinical sections are well illustrated and present detailed approaches with high quality photographs. ... an invaluable resource for both trainees and attending surgeons looking to improve their clinical skills ... ." (Ahmad H Bani-Hani, Doody's Review Service, March, 2009)
"This operative atlas was written by Ramalingam and Patel, two skilled laparoscopists. Twenty contributors, all of them experts in laparoscopy, helped the authors to compile this comprehensive guide. ... Each chapter is richly illustrated with captioned, full-colour photographs and figures. ... This outstanding original textbook assembles a significant amount of information for all practising urologists and trainees. It can certainly be recommended for purchase."
