The Toyota crossroads is one of the entrance crossroads into the city of Cotonou, to which four branches connect, including three of the Route Nationale Inter-Etat No. 1. This crossroads is very often saturated at peak times (weekday mornings and evenings) because of the volume of traffic observed on this crossroads but also because of the many converging and diverging conflicts that make traffic difficult. Directional counts were carried out in a wider area around the junction over a five-day period, and are presented in the second part of this document (the first being devoted to general information on transport in sub-Saharan Africa). The average of these five days of counting shows that the roads with the highest number of heavy goods vehicles and light vehicles are: the Stade de l'Amitié - Carrefour Toyota road and the Carrefour Toyota - Etoile Rouge road, while the Carrefour Toyota - Cadjèhoun road has a moderate number of these types of vehicles. This book deals in its entirety with the problems of traffic fluidity in major cities throughout the world and proposes appropriate and optimal solutions.
