Besides the millions of people each year who suffer head and brain injuries, there are many times more who have them and don't know it. The symptoms resemble so many things we can easily ignore - like headaches, ADD/ADHD, moodiness, depression, anxiety, PTSD, neck pain, nausea, clumsiness, brain fog, dementia, etc. - or that we can attribute to other causes, making them harder to follow up on. A concussive force can happen to the brain if you fall, play contact sports, or have a car accident, but unless you pass out or bleed, most likely everything else will get diagnosed and treated except what happened to your head. The consequences often show up much later when your inner resources are tapped out and you've forgotten the original incident(s). I've had dozens of small head injuries and a few major ones that were overlooked until the 'game-changer' happened and couldn't be dismissed. I studied and tried everything I could think of to heal it and was then faced with healing all of them. I reached 80% resolution, but still had a couple of remaining symptoms and a vulnerability to exacerbation. I got to wondering why that vulnerability was still there. My body remembered everything and left tracks in my system that luckily could be followed like breadcrumbs to the kingpin. The kingpin was the area that registered most of the trauma in such a way that none of them could fully heal, because on the level of the nervous system, fascia fields, and other layers, they are inseparably interconnected. With what I've learned in the process of researching for this book, finally the kingpin is healing and that remaining 20% is resolving as well. What I learned along the way is too significant not to share. So many discomforts and dysfunctions that turn into chronic issues can be renewed into greater ease, more freedom, less pain, deeper sleep, and happier days. I wanted everyone to know that there are many avenues these days for specific diagnoses, and detailed treatment protocols that are pretty simple and are a pleasure to follow because they feel so wonderful as they balance your system. There are several types of practitioners out there who can help jump start the process, and many things you can do on your own to continue the trajectory towards well-being and lasting peace of mind. I hope that coaches, teachers, parents, partners, therapists, and team mates alike appreciate and pass on the urgency of this information getting out there. Hear what professionals have to say:"Concussion is the entry even leading into dementia. Recovery must include the restoration of braincase physiology (motion), and the reestablishment of brain-drainage (glymphatic and venous). Neurodegenerative decline occurs throughout all neural tissues i.e. spinal stenosis, cardiac arrythmias, incontinence and constipation accompany the tremor and lost memories. Opposing Gravity goes beyond the physicality of brain injury to include a wide range of nutritional, physical, and spiritual approaches, with extensive self-care information from an insider's perspective. The reader will soon know more than their physicians, and will have a far wider ranges of tools with which to recover." TM McCombs, DO, Board Certified Family Practice, Board Certified NeuroMuscular Skeletal Medicine "Suresha Hill has written a gem of a book about how to recognize injuries and how to heal from them. As a CranioSacral/Trauma therapist, I have worked with countless closed injury clients over the years and have lamented the lack of a self-help manual I could recommend for people to empower their own healing process. Now Suresha has provided such a resource - a beautiful blend of valuable information combined with insightful personal experience." ~ Gary Peterson, BCST, BCST Approved Teacher
Autorenporträt
Suresha has lived a lifetime of curiosity and fascination about the human condition and how to possibly improve, if not uplift the experiences and challenges attached to being born. She began studying Sociology at Kentucky State University, then switched majors to Elementary and Special Education when she transferred to Kent State University in 1970. After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree, she went on to earn M.S. and Ed.S. degrees in School Psychology, with a Specialty in Prevention and Systems Intervention. After a few years of practicing in her fields of study including the psychology of change, she saw that many of the learning problems in children were related to neurological, physiological, and emotional issues. Her studies then extended to energetic systems like Shiatsu and Polarity, Breath Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Anatomy, Physiology, the musculoskeletal system, Visceral Manipulation (internal organ treatment), Brain Classes, the Lymphatic System, Hanna Somatic Education, a diploma in Osteopathy, a Biodynamic Cranial Sacral Therapy Training, and a few other modalities. Along the way, she'd been a Martial Artist in Isshin Ryu karate, along with Dwa Shaan, and various forms of Chi Kung. She danced and played a variety of sports for her entire life, and began a Spiritual focus in 1978, whereby she studied with a variety of teachers and a few Spiritual Masters. She also wrote for a newspaper for three years, worked for a Public Relations firm as an interviewer and writer, and wrote several books. "Remember the Wisdom that Progress Forgot - Sharing the Gems of our Ancestors" took 15 years to complete as a tribute to her ancestry. The first three volumes in the Somatic Intelligence series were written for students of the NeuroSomatic Integration work she developed. Somatic Intelligence Volume 4 was entitled, "What your Body is Dying for You to Know," Volume 5 is, "The Conversation Every Body Wants to Have with You," and Volume 6 is, "Opposing Gravity - How to Recognize and Heal from Head Injuries." She worked many years for chiropractors, Wellness Centers, and a Sports Medicine clinic until 1992, when she founded the Marin Center for Somatic Integration. Suresha taught Somatics, along with various aspects of NeuroMuscular Reeducation for 25 years. She became the owner and CEO of Shibui Gardens Spa in 2005, where she continues her practice supporting the community in a variety of methods that help them to regain or retain health and well-being. Her vision is to inspire the desire to heal into wholeness.
