Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is a non-traditional, manufacturing process based on removing material from a part by means of a series of repeated electrical discharges between a tool, called electrode, and the part being machined. Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) has been proven as an alternate process for machining complex and intricate shapes from the conductive composites. EDM has become an important and cost-effective method of machining extremely tough and brittle electrically conductive materials. It is widely used in the process of making moulds and dies and sections of complex geometry and intricate shapes. The workpiece material selected in this experiment is AISI 01 Die steel taking into account its wide usage in industrial applications. In today's world AISI 01 Die steel contributes to almost half of the world's production and consumption for industrial purposes. The input variable parameters are Peak Current (Ip), Pulse-On Time (Ton), Gap Voltage (Vg) and Sensitivity. Taguchi method is applied to create an L9 orthogonal array of input variables using the Design of Experiments (DOE).
