Sulfide removal from sulfide containing waste waters has gained importance in recent years due to its vital impacts on the environment. This work was in the domain of environmental science that showed optimization of microbial processes can improve efficiency in waste water management systems especially in tannery waste water where sulfide containing chemicals are common ingredients during the course of the tanning processes. The author tried to characterize some efficient isolates that can be of a great essence due to their good sulfide oxidation capacity and relatively high ranges of salt tolerance, and to other toxic compounds like chromium prevailing in the tannery waste waters.
