The demand for energy is increasing day by day because of increasing the residents and industrialization. In this critical stage of the energy crisis, renewable energy is one of the extremely vital substitute energy resources. The wind and solar power generation are two of the most promising renewable power generation technologies. Therefore, the present research work on the hybrid Photovoltaic (PV)/wind power generation system is aimed at investigating the performance and optimum design of the hybrid system as an alternative energy source for remote regions. The hybrid system consists of PV module, wind turbine, Cuk/SEPIC (Single-Ended Primary Inductance Converter) DC-DC converter, Interleaved Boost Converter (IBC) and 3-phase inverter. In addition, a passive T-LCL power filter is used to mitigate the harmonics contents in the load voltage.A simple passive automatic cooling and cleaning system using a thin film of water is designed for a standalone PV system. A detailed thermal and electrical model is developed to predict the I-V and P-V characteristics of the PV module. Optimal sizing of a hybrid PV/wind/storage battery system is carried out.
