Health is a critical dimension of human being and oral health being an integral part of it has impact on general health tremendously. In the past, oral health did not secure its importance in various state and national health planning due to lack of awareness in the masses owing non life threatening and non debilitating oral diseases. Traditionally, many countries adopted oral health care in the form of providing piece - meal efforts in the form of curative services. Although, many developing and European countries are embracing oral health as a part of primary care. In Indian scenario, the crippling nature of dental diseases, impelling economic reasons towards early detection and treatment of dental diseases, there is need of a National Oral Health Policy. This is one such attempt to throw some light at Oral Health Care Delivery Systems in India and other countries.
