On 27 June 2007, Archbishop John Patrick Foley was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI Grand Master to succeed Cardinal Carlo Furno who resigned the office upon reaching the age limit of 85 years. Archbishop Foley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1935, and ordained a priest in Philadelphia when he was 26 years old. He was created a cardinal in 2007.
