Formation water-seawater incompatibility leads to inorganic form scales. It is a predominant mechanism in most producing and damaged injection wells. Scale precipitate from oil field brine when there is a disturbance in thermodynamics and chemical kinetics, which in turn results in the brine becoming saturated with soluble minerals. the degree of supersaturation could increase by either a change in fluid composition through opposing mixing or by temperature and pressure changes. One of the effective methods for controlling scale formation is the use of inhibitors. It has been shown that the addition of scale inhibitors to the feed water would be an effective method to reduce or prevent scale formation in oil field systems.
