Dr. Y.V.Singh, Senior Scientist (Agronomy), IARI,New Delhi, India, has developed protocol for Basmati rice cultivation through organic management for sustainable productivity and better quality. In this protocol he used four (Blue green algae @ 2.0 kg/ha, Azolla @ 1.0t/ha/ Azotobacter @ 0.5 kg/ha, vermicompost @ 5.0 t/ha and Farm yard manure @ 5.0 t/ha) organic inoculants to meet the nutrient requirement of organic Basmati rice-wheat-green gram system and got 4.0 t/ha of Basmati rice as well as wheat grain yield besides enhancing uptake of iron, zinc and manganese in grains of rice, wheat and…mehr

Dr. Y.V.Singh, Senior Scientist (Agronomy), IARI,New Delhi, India, has developed protocol for Basmati rice cultivation through organic management for sustainable productivity and better quality. In this protocol he used four (Blue green algae @ 2.0 kg/ha, Azolla @ 1.0t/ha/ Azotobacter @ 0.5 kg/ha, vermicompost @ 5.0 t/ha and Farm yard manure @ 5.0 t/ha) organic inoculants to meet the nutrient requirement of organic Basmati rice-wheat-green gram system and got 4.0 t/ha of Basmati rice as well as wheat grain yield besides enhancing uptake of iron, zinc and manganese in grains of rice, wheat and green gram and soil organic carbon, microbial population and enzymatic activity. Based on sustainability yield index rice-wheat-green gram system was found most sustainable followed by green gram, wheat and rice crop. He tested/ demonstrated this protocol in farmers fields also. He further found that inoculation of N2-fixing inoculants like Azolla and BGA, and P-solubilising inoculants like PSB and AM fungi along with 90 Kg N/ha can provide yield equal to recommended dose of chemical fertilizer. Response to biofertilizers was found better at low dose of chemical fertilizers.
