There are several factors influencing effectiveness of an organisation such as size of the organisation, the environment in which it is operating and the strategies applied by the decision makers.In a country with social and political instability, environment is highly volatile and uncertain making it difficult for decision makers to use appropriate strategy for future growth. This research is a humble attempt to understand the factors affecting and their influence on the organisation effectiveness with a special reference to management institutions in Iraq.This study has focussed on various types of strategies used by different types of institutions such as private and public higher education institutions. An attempt has been made with the help of primary data collection from academicians and administration to judge the effectiveness of various strategies on overall organisation development. This study will prove to be highly beneficial not only for the researchers but also for management of education institutions and government for taking policy decisions in the area of higher education.
