This book is a desk-based research presenting a study of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) from an organisation development (OD) perspective. The PLO institutionalised the national liberation movement of the Palestinian people. Therefore, in order to provide an understanding of how to develop this public organisation for it to be able to achieve its goals, this study offers at the first place a literature review of OD that is understood to provide solutions for contemporary problems in all types of organisations. To achieve this goal, in addition to the OD literature this study offers a review of PLO. Afterwards, the study critically assesses the conceptual problems facing the development of the organisation as a whole. Commenting on a major development and reform intervention that had failed drastically presenting the reasons of such a result follows the assessment. Finally this study presents recommendations to develop PLO towards achieving its goals. The PLO needs tore-democratise itself and strengthen the individuals it governs. At the end, shortly, an epilogue presents the new challenges to the PLO that arisen from the recognition of the state of Palestine.

Nizar El Laz obtained his MSc in HRM & International Development in 2009. Since then he has been working in business development and consultancy. He taught HRM, International Business and Global Strategic Management. He is a Palestinian human rights and political activist involved in writing reports and articles on Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
