The book presents an analysis of the extensive scientific activities of the Society for the Study of the Kazakh Territory. Scientific public organizations that emerged in pre-revolutionary Russia played a huge role in the process of formation of science, education and enlightenment. Most of the natural-geographical, historical and socio-economic information about the past of the Ural region has been preserved in the presented research materials of the scientific society. The author pays attention to the fact that, despite the difficult years of the formation of Soviet power, in the conditions of destruction of many documents during the Civil War, local historians continued to carry out scrupulous scientific work on the preservation of historical and cultural heritage. Through the efforts of scientific personnel libraries and museums were created and developed, geobotanical, hydro-tychological and archeological researches were carried out, articles were published, scientific connections between the regions were established. It should be noted that the scientific heritage of the "Ural Branch of the Society for the Study of Kazakhstan" is of great importance for further scientific and practical research.
