Autorenporträt
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee ( 1938- ) started teaching Statistics in Presidency College, Calcutta in 1962 , joined the University of Calcutta in 1964 as a Lecturer, became Centenary Professor of Statistics in 1982. Beyond retirement in 2004 , he remained a Visiting Professor till 2012. He has published around 120 research papers in reputed journals like Journal of Multivariate Analysis, Journal of Applied Probability, Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, Communications in Statistics, Sankhya, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, Calcutta Statistical Association Bulletin, Journal of the Indian Society of Agricultural Statistics, Journal of Indian Statistical Association, Opsearch, Micro-electronics & Reliability, International Journal of Probability & Statistics, etc. He has also published a host of expository and review articles and has authored several books and edited a few others. Dr. Mukherjee has guided 25 research workers in Statistics, Mathematics, Statistical and Probabilistic aspects of Management and Engineering, is the Chairman, Board of Directors, International Statistical Education Centre ( ISI ) and Mentor, Indian Association for Productivity, Quality& Reliability. He was President of the Indian Society of Probability & Statistics and Operational Research Society of India, and Vice-President of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies ( IFORS ). He has delivered lectures and conducted short courses in many universities in Asia, Europe , and North America.
