The purpose for writing this book was to add to the field of knowledge how an organizational self assessment can help an organization determine its need to change but more importantly determine its readiness and risk for a planned change initiative. Numerous studies have shown the dismal record of organizations achieving their desired results in planned change initiatives. My attention is for the book to help those responsible for planned change initiatives to understand more on how they can improve their probability of successfully implementing a planned change and sustain the desired outcomes. Another reason in writing this book is for internal and external consultants to understand their important role in helping an organization better understand the risks for a planned change and to assist an organization on how to determine that risk before a planned change initiative is implemented. An organization is better able to successfully implement a planned change effort if it knowsbeforehand what must be done in order to improve the probability of a successful change effort. This book illustrates the relationship between risk and level of readiness for different types of changes.
