This book discusses the Oriental Sources of Elizabethan Drama with special reference to the selected plays of Robert Greene, William Shakespeare and Philip Massinger. Although the title of the book is Oriental sources of Elizabethan drama, attention will be focused only upon the plays which are related to this subject such as: 1- Selimus the Emperor of Turks, a play by Robert Greene. 2- Othello, a play by William Shakespeare. 3- The Renegado, a play by Philip Massinger. These are representative works of Elizabethan drama which deal with the Orient and Orientals. Limiting the scope of the study of these works has helped the author to produce a detailed and intensive analysis of this data. The book finally arrived at certain conclusions regarding the direct effects of the Oriental sources on the creative views and dramatic art of the playwrights selected for the book. It is this aspect of the applications of the intellectual and ideological driven of the literature that validates the relevance of the study.
