Autorenporträt
The late Florence Sakade (1916-1999) is widely recognized as a pioneer of English language publishing in Japan. She was a well-known origami practitioner as well as an experienced editor and the author/compiler of numerous books about Japan, including Tuttle Publishing's A Guide to Reading and Writing Japanese, Japanese Children's Favorite Stories, Urashima Taro and Other Japanese Children's Favorite Stories, Peach Boy and Other Japanese Children's Stories, Little One-Inch and Other Japanese Children's Stories and Kintaro's Adventures and Other Japanese Children's Favorite Stories. Her distinguished career spanned four decades, and she worked until her death in 1999 at the age of 82. Marc Kirschenbaum is a world-renowned origami paper artist and widely-published author. He covers a variety of subjects and styles, from elegantly simple models to unbelievably complex works of art. His works are on display in museums and galleries around the world, including the American Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian, the Mingei International Museum in Japan and the Hangar-7 Aviation Museum in Austria. Kirschenbaum's models have been featured in hundreds of books and periodicals. Kirschenbaum is an active member of OrigamiUSA, serving on the administrative council and directing the production of many of its publications.
